After one week of physical hiatus from camp due to my viral infection, I'm finally reporting back tomorrow morning. Not very excited about it actually. Anyway, it's a good thing because I can get to hit the gym again and spend the noon more productively this way. Waking up at 6 am is still a pain in the ass. Still, I'm cherishing what I have right now. Most people have it worse than me!

It was a pleasant time spent with the cousins and aunt this evening. We had lot of sashimi, raw oyster and abalone. I totally dig into these not because it were the exp items but rather, Park Royal serve fresh seafood all the time. We talked about apple product over desserts, very random topic. It was really funny of aunt contemplating to get another iPhone just because she wanted to let uncle play those games inside. Have to jailbreak and all for her if she is really getting one.

We are looking forward to eat at The Line soon. Making use of the birthday promotion ;)

Lin has been away for 2 days. I'm wondering how much fun she is getting! Can't help but think of her while aimlessly sorting out some mindless stuffs today. I do miss her.

My brother is down with dengue for a week already. Nothing serious to the extent of needing to stay in the hospital but it's quite worrying to see him lost so much weight and appetite. Numerous blood test is the norm, to check whether his blood platelets is normal or not. Inevitably, this would land huge medical expense for my family but I know it can't be help. Get well soon!

I had a good time meeting up with Fred last evening. It was a last minute thing and yet it ended up better that I expected. We had sushi in this $.99 restaurant (Mura something?) at Cathay and it tasted only as good as the price stated. Sometimes, it's cool to just hang out, eat and chat. Feeling lazy. I feel that doesn't necessary have to be in town, an expensive restaurant with great foods to impress my stomach. It is the company, the chatting moments with Fred updating about our mundane stuff that kept the hours going. Not forgetting Ken, who likes to coincidentally stalk us (!!) Even though we were disappointed at their Salmon sushi, we still walked home with happy tummies.

I heard from Jack there would be a dinner meet up with the Poly clique this Saturday. The last time I saw the whole bunch of them was at my Birthday, pity that I didn't catch much time to chat with everyone of them.

As most would have heard of the song "Fall For You", originally by Secondhand Serenade which came from their second album "A Twist In The Story." Their first album was "Awake." The song was such a great hit in Singapore, that almost all of the local teenagers would have heard at least once. More popular for it happy and upbeat songs. Sometimes, melancholy ballads.

Experiencing Secondhand Serenade wasn't such of a high rave for me initially. Having listened to their song "Fall For You" from my girlfriend the first time, it didn't really leave me an outstanding impression. I couldn't relate well to specific genre such as Rock at that point of time. Before that, I don't listen to their songs at all.

Subsequently as what the second album titled, it started to take a twist in my perception, as I slowly derived a queer sort of ecstasy that couldn't be explained by words. To me, all of their songs seem so individual as if each of them carried their own story behind the lyrics.

The whole feeling doesn't come suddenly but more like how a honey drink would taste at the first taste, bland and not very sweet. However, as I drink more of it, the after-taste of honey lingers more and more, and becomes almost suffocating in its presence after. Though the songs start to blend in together after a while, one must really listen to the lyrics behind every song and see the direction that it was going, that is where you could see the musically magic behind the success of his songs. It may be overly sentimental or some would felt that the singer is trying to be emo like lot of bands today but I feel that he is just sticking to his own music style. That's how Secondhand Serenade came to me. Bland at first taste, sweet at the after. Now they are probably one of my favorite bands.

Therefore, I decided to dedicate this entry exclusively on their biography as I feel it would bring different shed of light to fans who have always or only just begun listening to their songs.

As most would have known, the sole vocalist behind the band is John Vesely who had once spent eight 12-hour days of recording his first album 'Awake', by himself, in a San Francisco studio. He posted his new songs on his MySpace web page and with some help of iTunes, it received very well among listeners. As what most would have agreed, the rest were history.

The pseudonym Secondhand Serenade is a reference to the way in which his songs are serenades sung to his wife. People around the world are merely getting to hear the songs second-hand. All of the songs were wrote by him and is definitely autobiographical. The Album 'Awake' was mostly filled with enchanting and serenading songs, with lot of emotions and sentiment.

Beautiful but not ending in a nice way, John's personal life took a twist and it was noticeably reflected on his second album "A Twist In The Story." It became dark and depressing.

Before success happened, John was married, with two young sons. As his career took off, he began to tour frequently, working longer hours than ever on his music and MySpace page. That took its toll on his marriage, and recently, he got separated from his wife whom he once had serenaded beautiful and sweet ballads to.

"A Twist in My Story" is noticeably more intense and gloomy. "Everything we've been through/And everything about you/Seemed to be a lie," he sings in "Goodbye," "a guiltless, twisted lie/It made me learn to hate you/Or hate myself for letting it pass by." Even the album's snappy first single, "Fall for You," starts out as a melancholy piano ballad, opening with this line: "The best thing about tonight's that we're not fighting."

One of his song 'Your Call,' is highly romantic in its own way. It is about his love for a girl (which later became his wife) in which he greatly expressed in his lyrics. He managed to add a very emotional effect with his vocals. I like it very much though it sound abit sad. It really hits home.

Do check out one of his song 'Last Time' which he narrated much of his feelings towards the separation from his wife and how drastically it affected his emotions. Not found on the latest album, you could hear this song probably from iTunes =]

Just about 2 weeks ago (for those who bother to try viewing my blog), it went adruptly 'missing' for some unknown reasons. Fortunately (for me and you readers), through some heavy emailing to blogger and an intense session of making sense out of the troubleshoot, geekinthewhite have finally got it back to where it belongs (:

Bringing back to what I've done during the period of my last entry till now, I had some very pleasant (booking in on the 2nd night of CNY wasn't fun at all) Chinese New Year celebrations with the family. Not to forget, my second valentine date with YL. These two occasions were mainly the highlight of Jan and Feb. NS is getting routine, it's not even considered a highlight.

Okay, she actually blowed me away by surprising me with a fondue-by-the-beach stunt. It was really creative of her and I must admit, very thoughtful at that!

We had a hard time lighting up the candles but eventually, we did it.

Recently, I caught this irritating sinus problem which troubled my rest for weeks. I now have it under control with some antibiotics. My main point is seek a doctor when you encounter any uncomfortable rest! Sleep is very very important. Okay, for me at least.

For some people who aren't aware, the blog owner here have finally got his ass out of sispec soil (!!!) and was posted into the Air Force (RSAF). The vocation is Air Defence Weapon Specialist, which don't sound interesting and isn't interesting anyway. Though there is a momentary period of cultural adjustment from the Army to the Air Force, some stuffs remain the same ie still got to chiong sua! Despite that, I still prefer the latter as there's a lesser regimental system and no more SOC!

As I get older, the vision towards my future gets clearer and clearer. There are just so many factors in life for things to work out accordingly to what we want. Emptiness could only be resolved if we want it to be filled. As for what to be fill in, I believed everybody see it differently.

For your info, it was abit difficult to walk in without car, so do your homework before heading there. Countdown for 2009 was at Marina Barrage with the love, AND the crazy amount of people there =/ Sadly speaking, fireworks were dull this year. But we had a good time lying down by the mat and having a mini picnic which wasn't romantic at all with all the crowd there. But still, we enjoyed each other company to the fullest (:

When you can live forever, what do you live for?

Twillight, which in my opinion is not a very good show. It's like a superhero kind of movie, where all started too quickly, rushed and ended too quickly. The plot wasn't narrative well enough and missed out a few good scenes. Of cause, there were scenes added in the movie which are not included in the book. This created a feeling where it seem wrong and awkward. Still, the male lead cast was quite well selected. I must say, he's dazzling enough to kill lot of female fans of the book, EXAMPLE MY GF. Okay, I think I need get a pair of golden contacts like him and be awfully pale all day. Alrrrrrrright. I won't do that. He's a vampire, different story. Some good notes, the baseball scene was quite well directed and not forgetting, the romantic scenes between Edward and Bella.

Every girls want a 'Edward Boyfriend'.

Back from my first field camp. Those shits that we went through were pretty norm but somehow, it was quite an positive experience for us, or for me personally. For example, stuff like observing jungle discipline, navigating around in total darkness, having a strong mental mindset etc. Wells, I guess those are stuff that makes people stronger. Good training and it was pretty fun as well (:

On a side note, combat ration ain't as bad as what people said. Hahah, tried cooking and it turned out tasty. Especially their Mee Goreng. Hahaha!

Anyway, I had escargots and steak from Bliss (Punggol Park) last Friday with my Dearest. The food were nice and I noticed they put in a lot of effort towards their food layout. Hmm, I guess any foods that associated with Aphrodisiacs are nice [....] Laugh* Okay, I'm just exaggerating. I don't have any craving for that now.

I had a birthday celebration with the cousins at Akira Japanese Restaurant near Tiong Bahru yesterday. It was ala carte buffet style. As expected, we kept spamming their sashimi and scallops (: It was niceeeeeeeee lol! Jeez. Also, I ordered this Chocolate cake from Rive Gauche which is located at Plaza Sin B2. Damn damn damn nice I tell you! I'd say it was one notch higher than those from Bakerzin's :D We caught Madagascar yesterday midnight after the dinner. The show carried some good cartoonish jokes and detailed animation. I would recommend it to anyone who wanna catch a light hearted show for a short stint, but definitely not for people who are busy.

I gotta leave SG soon. To that so near yet so far island away from Singapore. The feeling sucks everytime whenever I have to book in. Another field camp and it would be over! Hmm 30 more days to POPPPPP. Gotta be strong!

So, I've been back from Pulau Tekong for about two days already, and I must say it was good experience gained during our confinement/adjustments weeks.

We were shifted out of our comfort zone, in full military manner. Stuffs that we took it for granted most of the time have been snatched away from us. Eg, laundry, cleanliness of bunks etc etc. Other than the very remote location of our camp, I am quite accustomed to the lifestyle in the camp now. Pleasantly, so far. However, the first few days over there were hectic and borrring. Ironically speaking, we had lot of admin stuffs to settle, yet given little admin time.

Also, it was emotionally taxing for those people who are closer to their loved ones. Sometimes, 20 minutes of talking time were all that could be offered during those hectic and tiring days. Training wise, it was quite fruitiful and progressive (: For me, I've lost weight but I'd feel my fitness level increasing. Not sure whether this is good or bad as losing weight for me is a no-no, but dreams are alway accompanied by sacrifices isn't it. To say, dryness of throat and heatiness of the body seems like part and parcel of the whole deal.

I ought to be thankful for all the support and encouragement that my loved ones showered me, especially my family and dearest. I believe it's only possible for a person to become stronger by having overcome their obstacles along their way and most importantly, learnt from it.

Having mediocre grades in my studies and much less achievements throughout my twenty years life, I am aware that this is probably a new opportunity for me to shine again and finally, making a mark in my life. I appreciate that I have a very ordinary yet happy family staying together and taking care of my daily needs, and guiding me along my youth. It also helped to have my dearest around with me thoughout this 9 months, telling me exactly what I need to know and the various colours of life (: I'm very very very lucky to have you (:

I know things are going to get more serious (EG tekan-ing, obstacles), I am hopeful that someday I'd achieve what I want in my two years time and eventually with all the happy memories. Provided I wouldn't get OOC or OOT first =/

I wasted 2-3 days away and it were definitely not productive! Wells, maybe except for the soon-to-be ala grand notre completition of my Sims 2 building. Apparently, the weather had been very bad to stay out. Or, I'm getting more ~~lazy~~ home-oriented. Come to think of it, couple weeks' more and I'll be off serving the nation. The feeling's coming like a minor tsunami. Slow at the start, furious in the end. Yes, I've been staying at home for the past few days! Not counting the late night supper which I had yesterday at chompchomp, it got really boring and my butt was actually the first one to sense it. But hey, let's see.. It wasn't that bad. Somebody should have gotten my drift cause she know where most of my time went (: I really hope she'd recover soon and get back on her stuff and studies. It's really dreadful to fall sick and no, falling very sick during Prelims period. Get Well Soon 'by'! On the other hand, Congrats to Singapore for finally bringing back the medal! I think it's very apt to use the term 'like FINALLY!' here. If only Michael Phelps could become a SG Citizen. Nah I doubt he will want, he'd prolly out migrate out of SG instead. Faster than the speed of light!

Two physicists have boldly gone where no reputable scientists should go and devised a new scheme to travel faster than the speed of light. The advance could mean that Star Trek fantasies of interstellar civilisations and voyages powered by warp drive are now no longer the exclusive domain of science fiction writers.

In the long running television series created by Gene Roddenberry, the warp drive was invented by Zefram Cochrane, who began his epic project in 2053 in Bozeman, Montana.

Now Dr Gerald Cleaver, associate professor of physics at Baylor, and Richard Obousy have come up with a new twist on an existing idea to produce a warp drive that they believe can travel faster than the speed of light, without breaking the laws of physics.

In their scheme, in the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, a starship could "warp" space so that it shrinks ahead of the vessel and expands behind it.

By pushing the departure point many light years backwards while simultaneously bringing distant stars and other destinations closer, the warp drive effectively transports the starship from place to place at faster-than-light speeds.

All this extraordinary feat requires, says the new study, is for scientists to harness a mysterious and poorly understood cosmic antigravity force, called dark energy.

Dark energy is thought responsible for speeding up the expansion rate of our universe as time moves on, just like it did after the Big Bang, when the universe expanded much faster than the speed of light for a very brief time.

This may come as a surprise since, according to relativity theory, matter cannot move through space faster than the speed of light, which is almost 300,000,000 metres per second. But that theory applies only to unwarped 'flat' space.

And there is no limit on the speed with which space itself can move: the spaceship can sit at rest in a small bubble of space that flows at "superluminal" - faster than light - velocities through normal space because the fabric of space and time itself (scientists refer to spacetime) is stretching.

In the scheme outlined by Dr Cleaver dark energy would be used to create the bubble: if dark energy can be made negative in front of the ship, then that patch of space would contract in response.

"Think of it like a surfer riding a wave," said Dr Cleaver. "The ship would be pushed by the spatial bubble and the bubble would be travelling faster than the speed of light."

The new warp drive work also draws on "string theory", which suggests the universe is made up of multiple dimensions. We are used to four dimensions - height, width, length and time but string theorists believe that there are a total of 10 dimensions and it is by changing the size of this 10th spatial dimension in front of the space ship that the Baylor researchers believe could alter the strength of the dark energy in such a manner to propel the ship faster than the speed of light.

They conclude by recommending that it would be "prudent to research this area further."

But hold the dilithium crystals: Dr Chris Van Den Broeck of Cardiff University commented: "The problem with this and previous schemes (including my own) is that part of the exotic matter would have to travel faster than the *local* speed of light (roughly speaking, it would need to go faster than the speed of light with respect to the portion of space it occupies), and that's not allowed by any established physical theory."

And even if this criticism can be met, Richard Obousy computed the amount of energy required to start up a "warp" process (but not the total energy required to travel a specific distance) around a 10x10x10 metre-cube ship based on the required change in dark energy in a space equal to the volume of the ship.

The energy to kick start the drive turned out to be equivalent to turning the entire mass of Jupiter into energy, by Einstein's famous E equals Mc squared equation, where c is the speed of light. Given the mass of Jupiter is around 2000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms, that is a big number.

"That is an enormous amount of energy," Dr Cleaver said. "We are still a very long ways off before we could create something to harness that type of energy."

First three days of work so far have been good! Due to company policy, I can't reveal my pay but I must say it's really easy money :) My work is somewhere along the line of Telemarketing (which some of you might know already) but to my surprise, it's not stressful at all. No quotas, no target, no selling. Just purely talking and deriving information only. For now, everyone that I knew from work has been really nice to me and I like the sea view from the 29th storey! Travelling is irritating though. I can't wait for them to move into the new office this coming August (hehe!). Perhaps by then, free time during my two hours break can be livelier! And I got Fredrick into the job with me! Let's work hard and struck rich before our army day mannnn! :)

On a side note, I have this work interview tomorrow. Hope I'd secure this job and start earning moolas for the gf, family, friends and me! Come to think of it, I'm quite clueless about the interview. The working time is quite ideal for me. Mentioned in my previous entry, it's a Monday to Friday job, working hours are quite fixed (: The pay is good too. As for the experience and job scope, those are the part where I'm really not sure. Anyhow, I just want try my best and get the job first.
By the way, today might seems like a normal Wednesday. However, it's also a day where three of my friends were enlisted to serve the army. Jian Hui, Sebastian and Edwin (you all might not be reading this till you all get out of Tekong), hope you all can persevere and stay healthy there! (:

How wonderful.

Above is completely unrelated. Short update, I was down with food poisoning (!) for the past few days but I'm fine now. Apparently, we (my friend got it too) suspect it was the randomly steamboat we ate last Sunday and the foods may not be clean. However, my baby has been sweet to me and it kind of speeden up my recovery process :)) Nothing in particular except most have already known that I'm enlisting on 15 Sept this year. Still a long way off but I aren’t taking any slack with the rest of my day left. GF, work, friends, family, sports (not in order). Anyway, I had gotten a new hair cut at Storm, CS, and I like it very much :) It's not fanciful. Short, neat and fresh looking. My baby got a new haircut as well. No kidding, she does look prettier now. Heheh :D Jack, Shar and Chee Ee went into Tekong already. Hope everything is fine for them there.

Lastly before I end this, I need a change of job! Honestly speaking, I'm quite sick of staying with the same job for four years plus already. It's not the money that are bad, neither is the working experience or environment. I just want to gain more experience towards office administration. Heard from some it's heavily mundane and boring, but wells I need a job that could fit into my schedule now. Preferably a 9-5 weekday job. $8/hour? Anything. So, if you got some connection there, do let me know yah? Highly appreciate!

I feel as though I am the world biggest retard. Words just can't express how much you meant the world to me, for making you so upset and all. Even if I say all these, I know you still hold some doubts in me and naturally, I couldn't blame you. I know I'm saying these and you might be thinking, I'll do it another way the second time. Yes, I'm a jerk. But you see, my love for you has always been real since the very start. What hurts my heart the most was seeing us so close at one moment and next, you crying over me. You deserved better (in fact much better), not all these emotional shits and turmoil circulating your mind when you have other important stuffs to deal with. I always thought in a relationship, it’s all about following the heart and love the person that you feel happy with. At this point of time, I'd only say those were the thoughts that push me to love you more and not making you sad. Your words last night have been rather impactful on me, reinforcing my mindset towards you. More or less, strengthening it. It kept me thinking for hours. Despite the fact that we have been together for nearly five months (not exactly very long), I'd felt the love showered by you. I should say, all the joys with you around, as I enjoyed every seconds when we were together. Sometimes, I looked into the future; all the shared visions with you, those promises that I gave you, the ever thumping heart that taught me how to love you. Yet, I overlooked the fact of not showering you with love consistently, which saddened you so much, I'd rather swap places with you and endure all the emotional pain that you're undergoing. I just felt depressed to realize only at the brim of losing you, allowed me to think so thoroughly, concluding that I can't afford to lose you.
